 FG REITERATES ITS COMMITMENT TO REPOSITIONING THE CIVIL SERVICE

The present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari has reiterated its commitment to properly reposition the civil service to ensure effective and efficient service delivery in line with the present government mandate.

 The President who was represented by the Chairman, Civil Service Commission, Dr. Tukur Ngawa made this disclosure recently at the dinner and award night held recently in Abuja to commemorate the 2019 Civil Service week celebration.

According to him the commemoration of the Civil Service week is one of the efforts to encourage hard work in civil servants and by extension reinvigorate the civil service.

He said that the Federal Governments is determined to provide robust welfare to all workers, as partly demonstrated by the recent minimum wage act and also the affordable housing pogrammme through the “FISH” initiative and Federal Staff Loan Board for all workers.

“Our mandate is targeted at creating Jobs for the teaming Nigerian youth, instilling discipline and ensuring economical growth”.

President Muhammadu Buhari on this note urged all workers to work as a team with the Federal Government to achieve this mandate for a more vibrant and efficient Civil Service.

 He stressed that civil servants must remain innovative so as to enrich their knowledge in line with the global trend.

Speaking, the Acting Head of the Civil Service, Dr. Folashade Yemi-Esan said that the civil service remains the most vital institution through which government delivers its policies and programmes to the citizenry. She therefore urged all the workers as a matter of necessity to continually welcome new ideas and innovations so as to be relevant to government and to humanity.

Dr. Yemi- Esan reiterated the commitment, loyalty of all Civil Servants to help the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari to sustain its giant stride and deliver its mandates, especially in the area of driving innovation in the Federal Civil Service Strategy Implementation Plan (FCSSIP) 2017 - 2020

“I am optimistic that with the benefit derived from the civil service week event we can unlock new dimensions to achieve the desired goal” she appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari for the support for the civil service since his inception into office and pray, it will be sustained.

The event also witnessed presentation of awards to deserving officers who had distinguish themselves and had demonstrated competence and efficiency in the discharge of their duties for the nation in their different areas of specialization.

The award was in three categories, Presidential awards to retired Permanent Secretaries – one person; Presidential awards to serving Directorate Cadre – Thirty-one persons; Head of Civil Service recommendation letter to intermediate cadre- forty-seven persons and three awards to best Essay writers. In all eighty-two (82) Civil Servants were honoured at the event.
