Temitope FASHEDEMI, an indigene of Ondo State, studied at the illustrious Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, where he obtained his B.Sc. (Combined Honours) in Computer Science and Economics; He also obtained a Diploma in Management at the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM). He later enrolled and completed the rigorous Executive MBA program at the prestigious Lagos Business School (2004-2005).

In the course of his working career, he obtained various professional certifications in Information and Communications Technology (ICT), Telecommunications, Project Management etc.; he also attended International courses on ‘Global Competitiveness’, ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’ and ‘Oil & Gas Fundamentals’ amongst others. He is a professional member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered).

Mr. Temitope FASHEDEMI started his career in the private sector, specifically in the ICT/Telecoms industry as a Systems/Network Engineer. Before joining the Civil Service, he had 16 years industry experience, 10 years of which was in Senior and Executive management roles. At different times, he was on the Executive Board of various industry associations such as – Internet Service Providers Association of Nigeria (ISPAN), Nigeria Internet Group (NIG), Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA).

Prior to his appointment as Federal Permanent Secretary in December 2019, he was a member of the Board of Galaxy Backbone Ltd. and previously served as a member of the Governing Board of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA). He also served as Nigeria’s representative on the Governmental Advisory Council (GAC) of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) since 2014.

As Director e-Government in the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, he was responsible for driving the adoption of e-Government in fulfilment of the Ministry’s mandate. Some of the successful achievements in this role include:

  • Championing the “Whole-of-Government” approach to e-Government adoption.
  • Adoption and institutionalization of the use of “.gov.ng” domain names by MDAs.
  • Facilitation of the development of the “Nigeria e-Government Master plan: 2020” and its subsequent approval by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) as a National strategy document on e-Government implementation.
  • Execution of various e-Government initiatives, one of which is the automation of the services of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), which served as a vital foundation for the successful implementation of the “Ease of Doing Business” policy of Government.
  • Facilitation of a world-class purpose-built “E-Government Training Centre” at the Public Service Institute of Nigeria (PSIN), to ensure continuous training of Public Servants to imbue them with skills and knowledge in preparation for service-wide e-Government adoption.
  • Led the e-Government Capacity Building Program (CBP) effort to develop several e-Government courses; over 2,000 public officers across various MDAs already trained in a variety of e-Government courses.
    • Trained Twenty (20) officers as e-Government Trainers – Twelve (12) of whom have obtained foreign master’s degree in e-Government courses.

Mr. Temitope Fashedemi is Permanent Secretary, Special Duties; Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation.

His interests include reading, researching, problem-solving and mentoring. He is passionate about Nigeria and firmly believes that the lives of majority of the Nigerian youth can be improved through acquisition of ICT skills and productive use of technology platforms.
