KAMBARI HANDS OVER AS PERMANENT SECRETARY, SWO

Following the recent approval for deployment and redeployment of some Federal Permanent Secretaries by the President, His Excellency, Bola Ahmed  Tinubu, GCFR, the Service Welfare Office (SWO) in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF), headed by Mr. Mahmud Adam Kambari, witnessed a handover and takeover ceremony on Thursday 18, 2024.

The outgoing Permanent Secretary, SWO, Mr. Mahmud Adam Kambari, while handing over to his successor, Dr. Comfort Adeosun, took his time to explain the nitty-gritty of the Office.

According to Mr. Kambari, having worked closely with staff of SWO, he can attest to their good mannerism, competence and reliability, which he leveraged on. He thanked the entire staff for the enormous support received from them and enjoined them to extend same to his successor.

The outgoing Permanent Secretary, who has been redeployed to the Federal Ministry of Environment said even though the job was a tasking one, he had very supportive and committed staff that made it easy for him to succeed. He applauded the HoSF for her support and mentorship while he was in charge of SWO, being his first stint as a Permanent Secretary.

In her remarks, the newly appointed Director to Oversee the Office of the Permanent Secretary, SWO expressed gratitude to the HoSF, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, CFR for the appointment and opportunity given to her to serve, adding that she will not take the position for granted. She also thanked Mr. Kambari for the support extended to her department and other staff of the Office during his tenure and promised to build on the foundation already laid, as well as assured staff of a harmonious working relationship.

She pledged to operate an open - door policy so that those with ideas that would help move the mandate of the Office would be duly entertained. Dr. Adeosun admonished staff to ensure effectiveness and productivity in the discharge of their duties.

Some of the Directors and staff who spoke at the event, described Mr. Kambari as hard working, accommodating and a silent achiever, who within the period he superintended over the Office, changed things for the best.  He was commended for his dedication and commitment towards staff welfare and the implementation of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021 – 2025 (FCSSIP-25).

Speaking during his Welcome Remarks, the Director, Insurance Administration, Alhaji Abubakar Maijama thanked the outgoing Permanent Secretary for operating an open-door policy which has helped to repositioned SWO in line with the mandate of the OHCSF.

In her Closing Remarks, the immediate past Director, Federal Integrated Staff Housing (FISH), Mrs. Uchenna Obi stated that handing over ceremonies are, mostly, moments of mixed feelings as staff are going to miss the outgoing Permanent Secretary for his effectiveness and resilience in service delivery.
