Overview:

Stock Verification is a Department set up primarily for internal control measures, maintenance of checks

and balances regarding procurement, receipts issue and consumption (price) of stores, and supplies.

Works and services that are acquired or held in Stock with records raised or maintained, are verified regularly

to ensure that all procedures laid down in Stock management, control and regulation are strictly adhered to

by the officer purchasing and controlling stores, and to ascertain the true and actual conduct of each item

in Stock.

Departmental Activities

The following are the Departmental activities of Stock Verification Department;

  •  Pre-verification of goods supplied, work, and service, and initiating Stock verification
  • programme/exercise.
  •  Test and compare ledger entry, examination of project plants, equipment and log book.
  •  Investigate loss of items in the stores and unserviceable items whenever suspected or reported upon
  • by the management, and developing more tactics and strategies for stores handling system and
  • store accounting systems, and authentication of purchase of stores/project sites verifying of all
  • physical Assets, stores and works service records of purchases in the Ministry.
  •  Monitoring and evaluation of all items supplied and removal of stores found unserviceable, Board of
  • Survey (BOS) and those which appear to be surplus to requirement to the condemned store deport
  • for boarding and disposal processes.
  •  Rendering Stock verification reports on the stores/ section of stores checked with recommendation
  • for improvement.
  •  Recommending changes when deficiencies are detected in the stores systems.
  •  Ensure efficient and effective management system in accordance with ethics of purchasing and price
  • analysis.
  •  Inventory of all government offices, plant, equipment, motor vehicles and machinery in headquarter or out-stations.
