Permanent Secretary, Common Services Office

Dr. Kalba Usman was born on March 3, 1969, in Kaltungo Local Government Area of Gombe State. His deep passion for saving lives and serving humanity inspired him to study medicine at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
He joined the Federal Civil Service in 2008 as an Assistant Director and became a Director in 2017.
He is a Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons in Urology and holds Diplomas in Leadership and Project Management from Washington University.
Dr. Kalba is honoured to be the first and, to date, the only Fellow of the World Endourology Society from the United States of America, trained in Israel now serving in Nigeria. He is also the pioneer Urology LASER surgeon in Nigeria. In the course of his career and practice, he has performed numerous life-saving surgeries, significantly contributing towards effective healthcare delivery in Nigeria. He has also trained numerous house officers, resident Doctors, and Urologists in LASER surgery and Endourology techniques.
Dr. Kalba was a Chief Consultant Grade 1 Urologist and the Director of Urology at the State House Medical Centre, until his appointment as Permanent Secretary.

A prolific author, Dr. Kalba has written and co-authored several research papers published in reputable national and international journals.
