MRS PATIENCE NWAKUSO OYEKUNLE

Permanent Secretary, Service Welfare Office

Mrs. Patience Nwakuso Oyekunle was born on 11th January, 1967 and hails from Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.

She began her academic journey at Orogodo Primary School, Agbor and proceeded to Baptist Girls High School, Agbor both in Delta State where she obtained her First School Leaving Certificate in 1977 and her West African School Certificate (WASC) in 1983 respectively. She furthered her education at the University of Benin where she earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Biochemistry in 1990 and then the University of Ilorin where she obtained a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Biochemistry in 1997. She is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management.

Mrs. Oyekunle began her career in the Federal Civil Service on 2nd May, 2013 when she was appointed as an Assistant Director (Admin), SGL. 15. Through dedication and hard work, she rose through the rank and was promoted to the rank of a Director, (Admin), SGL. 17 with effect from 1st January, 2022 and thereafter posted to the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction as Director in charge of Planning Research and Statistics Department – a position she held until her appointment as a Permanent Secretary on 16th December, 2024.

Over the course of her career, she has served in various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) including Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development.

Mrs. Oyekunle is happily married with children and her hobbies include reading, swimming and other recreational activities.
