The body of Permanent Secretaries on Tuesday, 10th November, 2020 held a valedictory session in honour of one of their own late Mr. Babatunde Lawal.
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HoS), Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan in her remarks extolled the virtues of late Mr. Babatunde Lawal describing him as a hardworking civil servant whose achievements to service would remain indelible in the annals of Nigeria civil service.
Speaking further, the HoS described the late Permanent Secretary as an outstanding public servant and a reflection of professionalism whose advisory role in fiscal and economic policies traverses over three decades.
According to Dr. Yemi Esan, Late Mr. Babatunde Lawal brought prestige to budget and National planning. He produced several national documents which serve as reference materials for budgetary purposes.
The colleagues of Late Babatunde Lawal testified to his simplicity, diligence, hard-work, competence and Camaraderie spirit.
The occasion was also used to urge the Federal Government to immortalize Late Babatunde Lawal who exhibited exceptional quality in the discharge of his duties in order to encourage other civil servants to give their best to the service of their fatherland.
Mr. Babatunde Lawal was appointed a Federal Permanent Secretary in December, 2018. Before his demise, he was Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Affairs Office, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF). He was also Deputy Secretary, Federal Executive Council
He died at the age of 56 years.
