In her continued efforts to improve the welfare of Nigeria Civil Servants, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HOS), Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan has called on the Bank of Agriculture to fashion out Agricultural schemes to benefit Civil Servants who have served a reasonable number of years in the service while they are still young and active.
Dr. Yemi-Esan made this request when the Managing Director and Chief Executive, Bank of Agriculture, Alwan Ali Hassan paid her a visit on Monday, 29th June, 2020 in Abuja.
According to her, Agriculture is very key for economic sustainability hence it should be taken very seriously. She also noted that the Public Service Rule allows Civil Servants to engage in Agriculture while in service.
Dr. Yemi-Esan therefore tasked the Bank of Agriculture to fine–tune the criteria for the eligibility of loans for Civil Servants to enable them engage actively in the different schemes.
The HOS also implored the Bank to work out special interest rates for Civil Servants in view of their meager salaries and requested that other additional Agricultural value chains be included in the scheme to accommodate those who cannot engage in active farming.
Earlier in his remarks, the Managing Director and Chief Executive, Bank of Agriculture, Alwan Ali Hassan expressed gratitude for the continued collaboration with the OHCSF.
He assured the HOS of Bank of Agriculture's readiness to offer loan facilities to intending Civil Servants once eligible structure and compliance are maintained.
