The Head of Service of the Federation, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan has called for better partnership and collaboration between the Public and the Organised Private Sector to meet the expectations of citizens.
She stated this at the opening plenary of the 27th Nigerian Economic Summit with the theme “Securing Our Future: The Fierce Urgency of Now” on Monday 25th October 2021 in Abuja.
Dr. Yemi-Esan, who was one of the panellists on the topic "The Urgency and Audacity of Public Sector Reform: Driving Change and Accountability” further explained that public private sector engagement was essential to measure the output of Government in terms of effective service delivery. Other panellists are the former Director General of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms, Dr. Joe Abah, the Special Adviser to the President on Economic Matters, Dr. Adeyemi Dipeolu, CEO, Public and Private Development Centre, Ms Nkem Ilo and Director BudgIT Foundation, Mr. Oluseun Onigbinde. The session was moderated by the Director, Africa Initiative for Governance, Mrs Ofovwe Aig-Imoukhuede.
The HOS also said that all processes in the Office of the Head of Service are now being digitalised so as to enhance transparency, accountability and integrity of public administration.
Her Office, she added, had collaborated with the Africa Initiative for Governance (AIG) Foundation on the development of Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) for all processes carried out in the Office.
According to her, this partnership marked the beginning of a new and exciting chapter in terms of digitalisation for the Nigerian Civil Service, one that is driven by innovation and enhanced efficiency.
She called for a better understanding of the structure and operations of government on the part of the Organised Private Sector.
