HOS URGES DIRECTORS OF HRM TO MOVE THE PUBLIC SERVICE FORWARD

The Head of Service of the Federation, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan, has urged the Directors of Human Resource Management, HRM, in the Federal Civil Service to provide the government with technical and human infrastructure to achieve efficient and productive public service.

Dr Yemi-Esan who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Career Management Office, Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Marcus Olaniyi Ogunbiyi gave the charge at a three-day Sensitization Workshop for Directors of Human Resource Management and other Stakeholders in the Federal Civil Service on “Harnessing the Human Resources for Greater Efficiency and Productivity” held on Tuesday 18th January, 2022 in Akure, Ondo State.

According to the Head of Service of the Federation, the human resource management is an essential part of an organisation, adding that effective management of staff has great influence on productivity. She added that HRM must strive to entrench a system and manage human capacity of the service in such a way that will guarantee quality service delivery.

The HOS also stated that her office is strengthening the IPPIS with the full roll out of the Human Resource Management module so as to check ghost workers, adding that it will further strengthen the payroll and personnel record system for effective administration.

She further said that the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Successor Plan (FCSSIP 2021-2025) were introduced to ensure effective implementation of government policies and programmes.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Career Management Office, Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Marcus Olaniyi Ogunbiyi, said that there was need for robust and well-organized human resource management strategies to move service for a greater level of efficiency and effectiveness if the public service must move beyond its level.

The workshop, he said was organized to strengthen the institutional capacity of Directors of HRM in achieving overall objectives of the service.

Dr Ogunbiyi further said that the workshop is expected to provide a platform for all Directors of Human Resources Management and other strategic Stakeholders to comprehensively consider all issues that are germane to the management of human resources that are essential in promoting productivity in the Public Service.
