The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HoSF), Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, CFR has attributed the transformation in the Federal Civil Service to God, who is the source of strength and wisdom in making the Service better with each passing day. ‘’Thank God for the ongoing reforms, testimonies from the private sector and the media are clear indications that the Civil Service has indeed transformed over time. Civil Servants are like that leper that came back to say thank you to Jesus, we have, also, come to give thanks to God for the journey, thus far.’’
Dr. Yemi-Esan, CFR, disclosed this at the Interdenominational Thanksgiving Service marking the end of the 2024 Civil Service Week held at the Exousia Church, Abuja. ‘’We are here to give gratitude to God for the remarkable success of the week-long event; we ascribe all glory and honour to God for these feats,’’ she affirmed.
The HoSF further stated that the Service drives the programmes and policies of government, which have attained great heights by the help of a divine force, the God Almighty. According to her, ‘the will of God for the Civil Service is that it becomes the pride of our nation and the best in the world. I urged all Civil Servants to always put God first in their day-to-day activities, as this is the only way to sustain our success story.’’
Earlier, the presiding Pastor, Mr. Kunle Shoyele in his Sermon titled, ‘Dominion Over Territory,’ said the theme for the Civil Service Week- ‘’Educate an African Fit for the 21st Century: Building Resilient Education System for Access to Inclusive, Life Long, Quality & Relevant Learning in Africa,’’ is quite appropriate, nothing that education begets knowledge and information that drives transformation.
He disclosed that education is the process of imparting knowledge, skills and abilities that can solve problems; knowledge acquired is just a piece of information but when engaged in practical terms, becomes applied knowledge that can bring about solutions. The Pastor enjoined Civil Servants to be problem solvers, as well as solutions providers, as this will enable them to adopt a new culture of change.
The 2024 Civil Service Week Thanksgiving Service was witnessed by some Transformative Permanent Secretaries, Directors and other staff. Prayers were offered for the Nigerian Civil Service and the nation, at large.
