MAKE INNOVATIVE CHANGES TO REVOLUTIONALIZE SERVICE

The Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo- Olu has affirmed that the Office of Heads of Service is the engine room of service and the Heads of Service are in unique positions to make changes that can revolutionize the Service.

He, therefore charged them to try innovative ways to make positive impact. He said “be courageous, audacious to turn around the documents governing Service and make changes that prosperity will say we left a service better than we met it”
Governor Sanwo -Olu gave this charge when the members of the National Council on Establishment led by the Chairman of Council and Head of Civil Service of the Federation paid him a courtesy call on Thursday, 3rd December, 2020

The Governor acknowledged that Government will excel in its programmes when the Service is doing well because it is the Service that will propagate the vision and mission of Government.
Governor Sanwo-Olu enjoined them to think local taking into consideration the peculiarity of their states but should act nationally for the good of the nation.

The Chairman of Council and Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folasade Yemi -Esan in her remarks commended the multi- pronged approach to governance by the Lagos State Government. According to her the approach has yielded transformative achievements in the area of capacity development and efficient service delivery.

She encouraged States to also create opportunities and deliver sectoral services to the people. She advised that digitally driven mechanisms and reform initiatives be put in place for improved and seamless running of Government business.
HoS also used the occasion to commiserate with the Governor and people of Lagos State over the death of the Federal Permanent Secretary representing Lagos State, Mr. Babatunde Lawal, Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Affairs Office, SGF and the destruction that followed the EndSars protest in Lagos.

The 42nd meeting of the National Council on Establishment (NCE) took place in Lagos from Monday, 30th December, 2020 to Friday, 4th December,2020.
The Executive Governor of Lagos State ably represented by the Deputy Governor of the State, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat declared the Council meeting open.

It was presided over by the Head of Civil Service of the Federation who is also the Chairman of Council. The meeting had in attendance Twenty – Seven (27) Heads of Service (HoS), Permanent Secretary of Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) and Eight (8) Hos represented by their Permanent Secretaries.

There was a total of Two Hundred and Fifty -Two (252) delegates from Federal and State Public Services. Thirty – Nine (39) memoranda on various establishment matters were considered in the meeting.
