The House Committee on Legislative Library, Research and Documentation has commended the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) for the development and deployment of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Enterprise Content Management (ECM) for enhanced performance service wide.
2. The Office got the pass mark of the Committee when it came calling for an oversight function to the office on Wednesday, April 28, 2021.
3. The Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Gaza Gbefwi said they came for an oversight follow-up visit on the recently launched SOPs and general documentation processes and programmes in the OHCSF. He emphasised the need for proper data management, stressing that it is the new currency in planning for development and nation building. According to him, the oversight visit is also to ascertain the technicalities of the digitization process and to ensure that it met with global best practices.
4. The members visited the two key documentation sections in the OHCSF. – the Open Registry and file digital centre, where policy and personal files are currently being scanned, in preparation for a full digitalized system of Enterprise Content Management.
5. Members expressed their satisfaction with the achievements of the OHCSF thus far. They used the opportunity to seek for synergy to further boost the Office's activities and programmes.
6. Earlier, while briefing the Committee, the Head of Service who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Special Duties Office, OHSCF, Mrs Ibiene Roberts, briefed the Honourable Members on the nitty-gritty in the development and the recent launch of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the Office. The SOPs will eventually be developed in all MDAs.
7. In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Service Policies and Strategies Office, OHCSF, Dr. Emmanuel Meribole expressed his gratitude for the visit. He described the visit as timely, as well as needful, especially now that the OHCSF is doing a lot on Enterprise Content Management (ECM).
8. Present at the event were: Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Legislative Library, Research and Documentation and other House members and Directors in the OHCSF.
