SELF DEVELOPMENT, HARDWORK PIVOTAL TO ACHIEVING SUCCESS IN CIVIL SERVICE.

The Head of Service of the Federation, (HoS) Dr. Folasade Yemi -Esan has disclosed that self-development, dependence on merit alone, hard work and tenacity are vital characteristics of an accomplished and successful civil servant.

Dr. Yemi- Esan gave this disclosure at a Book launch held in Honour of Mrs. Georgina Ehuriah- Arisa, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior on Thursday, 17th September, 2020 in Abuja.

She said it was instructive to note that self-development played a crucial role in the success story of the celebrant. She noted that the Book launch came at the right time, when the Present Administration through the Office of the Head of Service is putting in place mechanism towards Institutionalizing a merit and performance driven service.

The Chairman of the occasion and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha said the success story of Mrs. Georgina Ehuriah-Arisa is a testimony that the service still possess some of the fineness and best brains and not a dumping ground for rejects

Speaking further, the Chairman pointed to the fact that the celebrant was trained within Nigeria; a testimony that Nigerian Institutions can produce great brains who can turn the fortunes of the Country towards great heights.

According to him, she is an embodiment of   resilience, resourcefulness, tenacity, loyalty, intelligence, diligence, hard work and has indeed made Nigerian women proud.

He added that her hard work and resourcefulness led to the production of a 1,400-page book on policies, programmes and projects of Government. This has become a working document for the present administration.

Earlier in his address, the chief host of the book launch, the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola applauded Mrs. Ehuriah-Arisa for her immense contribution to the Civil Service. He described her as very supportive and capable of managing challenges in the course of her duty. According to him, her book is 35 years of compressed experience and meritorious service to her Nation.

Present at the event were the representative of the Vice President, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Head of Service of the Federation, Past Heads of Service of the Federation, Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, DGs, CEOs among others.
