The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), Mr. Olumuyiwa Enitan Abel, has charged recipients of the 2026 Civil Service Rewards and Recognition Awards to leverage the recognition received to do more in promoting excellence, innovation and improved service delivery across the Federal Civil Service.

The HCSF gave the charge during an interactive meeting with the 2026 awardees, which provided an opportunity for the officers to share their reflections, observations and feedback on the impact of the awards, as well as offer suggestions for further strengthening the Rewards and Recognition System.

He noted that the engagement underscored the growing significance of recognising the Service’s own, stressing that the initiative goes beyond celebrating outstanding performance to fostering a culture of excellence, commitment and continuous improvement within the Civil Service.

Mr. Abel encouraged the awardees to remain ambassadors of excellence in their respective MDAs and to translate the recognition into greater commitment, enhanced performance and a renewed drive to contribute to the development of the Service. He also assured them of the continued support of his Office towards sustaining an effective and impactful recognition system.

The Permanent Secretary, Service Welfare Office, OHCSF, Dr. Abdul Sule Garba, described the meeting as historic, noting that it provided a unique opportunity for the HCSF to directly engage the awardees and receive feedback on how the recognition had impacted their work, motivated them and encouraged them to do more in the Service.

Also speaking, the Consultant on the Rewards and Recognition Programme, Ms. Modupe Bankole, described the meeting as a valuable platform for adding further value to the post-award process through the exchange of ideas, lessons learnt and practical insights among the awardees and stakeholders. She noted that the contributions would provide useful guidance towards improving the scheme and enhancing its impact.

The meeting also provided an avenue for the awardees to reflect on the significance of the recognition, share practical recommendations and engage in meaningful dialogue on ways to further strengthen the Rewards and Recognition System as a tool for motivating personnel, promoting excellence and ultimately improving service delivery across the Federal Civil Service.
