As part of his sustained engagement with staff across the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF), the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), Mr. Olumuyiwa Enitan Abel, has charged officers on Grade Levels 8–14 to take ownership of the ongoing Civil Service reforms, strengthen their professional capacity and contribute meaningfully to improved, citizen-centred service delivery.
Addressing the officers, the HCSF described them as key drivers of the Civil Service, noting that they occupy a critical position in translating government policies and reform initiatives into effective action and tangible results. He stressed that the knowledge, competence and commitment of individual officers remain fundamental to the effectiveness and sustainability of the Service.
Mr. Abel emphasised the importance of continuous learning and self-development, urging the officers to pursue mastery in their respective areas of responsibility. He noted that investing in personal capacity not only enhances career growth but also strengthens the ability of officers to contribute effectively to government business and organisational performance.
He encouraged the officers to cultivate the habit of asking questions, seeking knowledge and remaining open to learning, noting that a knowledgeable workforce is better equipped to make sound decisions, solve problems and deliver quality results.
In his opening remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Common Services Office, Dr. Danjuma Usman Kalba, commended the HCSF for convening the engagement, noting that the direct interaction with Grade Levels 8–14 officers underscored the leadership’s commitment to listening to its workforce, fostering collaboration and building a stronger, more effective Civil Service.
The engagement also provided a platform for candid dialogue, enabling the officers to raise issues, exchange perspectives and make suggestions on matters relevant to their work, growth and overall experience within the Service..
The session reflected the HCSF’s commitment to an open and responsive workplace where officers are encouraged to contribute ideas, embrace responsibility and support the continuous improvement of the Service.
